Watching Wolf Pack while I work, and it's really just highlighting that;
a) TV writers have forgotten how to write likeable teenage characters. I don't understand what about the last six or so years convinced writers that teens no longer have friends, but seriously, why is it so rare for teen dramas now to have charcters who are nice and actually like one another?! Why does the current generation of tv writers dislike kids so strongly?
Half the success of Teen Wolf is the fact that the first thing you learn about Scott and Stiles is that they are bffs who are 100% ride or die for one another, and that sets the tone for everything that follows. First thing you learn about the MC is that he's likeable enough to have at least one very close friend who cares about him, so the audience are primed to like him too.
First thing we learn about Wolf Pack's MC is that he's the sort of person who has loud phone conversations on public busses.
b) we apparently still haven't moved past 'it's not sexual assault if it happens to a guy' - either that or the writers have an incredibly confused idea of what consent is (protip, if you have to lie to get consent, it's not really consent!)
c) boy you sure can get away with a lot of explicit ableism on TV
and d) anxiety disorders are to 2020s teen dramas what clumsiness was to 2000s teen dramas, and I wish they weren't
